Antiscalant developed for Wastewater RO – Following two years of R&D and three years of pilot testing, American Water Chemicals (AWC) has completed its first full-scale delivery of a new RO antiscalant product to the Orange County Water District (OCWD) for its Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS). The iconic 70 MGD (264,950 m3/d) GWRS—which employs MF, RO and UV/H2O2 to treat secondary effluent—had experienced numerous silica-scaling incidents, which had forced them to resort to the use of ammonium bifluoride as an RO membrane cleaner.

AES Arabia has been awarded Nigeria WWTP Project – AES Arabia has been awarded design, engineering, manufacturing and supply of Industrial WWTP based on MBBR technology while having a designed capacity of 600M3/Day. The plant is designed to treat 09 different streams of waste water coming from CIP Milk, CIP Tomato, Process and the utilities of the Oriental Food Industry – Nigeria. The maximum influent’s load is as COD: 28,000ppm, BOD: 9,200ppm, TSS: 1,000ppm, Oil & Grease: 1,000ppm, TDS: 1,000ppm, pH: 04 ~ 11 while after passing through different treatment stages the quality of effluent shall become as BOD: <30ppm, COD: <250ppm, TSS: <100ppm, Oil & Grease: <10ppm and pH: 5.5 ~ 9.0. This effluent shall be discarded into the river flowing nearby the plant premises”.
“AES grabs Condensate Polishing Plant from Hitachi Infrastructure, Japan for Jazan Refinery Project – AES Arabia has been awarded design, engineering, manufacturing and supply of Condensate Polishing Plant for one of the biggest gasification and refinery projects owned by Saudi Aramco in south west region of Saudi Arabia. The Condensate Polishing Plant is designed to polish 30,000 CMD of steam generated during the process and the treated condensate will be pumped to the refinery process”.

The software is designed to predict water quality and scaling potential with any type of water, at any pH and temperature and is the culmination of over 5 years of lab design, pilot trials and with outcomes proven in the field. “The increased usage of RO technology in industrial reuse applications has created a need for predicting a wider range of scales under extreme conditions” said the company’s CEO and Technical Director Mo Malki.
The ProtonTM Membrane Aqueous Chemical Calculator includes saturation and precipitation potential calculations for 52 types of scales, and includes 4 new indices created by Alkema. These include Kinetics based indices for calcium carbonate and silica, a saturation index for calcium phosphate, and an index for antiscalant-salt precipitation (antiscalant overdosing).

AES has successfully designed, supplied, commissioned and handed over one of the state of art 715907 GPD Industrial WWTP to Petrokemya. Petrokemya, an affiliate of SABIC had selected TR as their EPC contractor for the project and AES supplied WWTP and Mixed Bed Demin Plant for the project.
