 AES Solution:

AES provided Methanol Injection Skids to be used to inject Methanol into Wellhead Piping Stream of Choke Valves in order to prevent  hydrate formation primarily during startup.

 Conclusion and Results:

AES designed, fabricated, tested and supplied 40 nos. Methanol Injection Skids with 517 barg (7500 psig)discharge pressure by using special tubing of SS in the discharge line of the API Dosing Pumps

King Khalid International Airport

Project Completion Date: October - 1998

Project Briefing:

MODA wanted to upgrade the aging RO plant in King Khalid International Airport. The plant was facing lot of problems due to huge influx of iron from deep wells.

 Client Requirements:

Client wanted to Refurbish five skids with combined capacity of 14,000 m3/day:

TDS: < 1,500 ppm

pH: 7.2

Ca: 300 ppm

Mg: 80 ppm

Na: 550 ppm

SO4: 420 ppm

Cl: 400 ppm

HCO3: 120 ppm

Iron: < 20 ppm

So it can be supply process water to the facilities in the area:

pH: 8.5

TDS: < 120 ppm

Silica < 1 ppm

 AES Solution:

AES went ahead and replaced existing hollow fiber membranes with the new technology of spiral wound membranes. The challenge was to convince the client with the new technology, since it was new in the market.

AES also improved removal of iron in the pretreatment by introducing aeration by natural means, through cascade aeration.

AES also improved on [...]

Al Safi Dairy Company

Project Completion Date: Ongoing

Project Briefing:

Al Safi wanted urgently to treat their wastewater to meet discharge requirements and use for restricted irrigation.

The wastewater is characterized by high COD/ BOD values, and large amount of suspended solids.

 Client Requirements:

Al-Safi wanted to treat wastewater from their dairy farm:

Flow rate: 6,000 m3/day

TDS: < 1,500 ppm

pH: 7.6

COD: 2,700 ppm

TSS: 1,700 ppm

BOD: 1,400 ppm

Total Nitrogen: 111 ppm

Phosphate: 20 ppm

So it can be reused in the plant with requirements to be:

pH: 8.5

COD: < 30 ppm

TSS: < 10 ppm

BOD: < 10 ppm

 AES Solution:

In order to properly handle the wastewater, two stages of aeration are used to drop the COD/ BOD, so it can reach low levels. Each Aeration tank has it is own clarifier and sludge recycling system.

The plant is equipped with equalization tank, sludge digesting facility, and manual and automatic inlet screens.

 Conclusion and Results:

Despite [...]

Petrokemya ABS Project

Project Completion Date: March- 2015

Project Briefing:

AES Arabia was awarded a contract by the Spanish EPC contractor TecnicasReunidas to supply a wastewater treatment plant for Petrokemya Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene polymer (ABS) Project located in Al-Jubail Industrial City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The petrochemical plant is the largest ABS emulsion producing plant in the world with 140,000 Metric tons per year. The raw materials used in the plant are Styrene (SM), Ethyl Benzene (EB), Butadiene (BD), Acrylonitrile (ACN), and Methyl Methacrylate (MMA). The ABS emulsion product shall be of Molding/ Extrusion/ Pipe commercial grades.

The plant will treat several wastewater streams collected from all over the plant, for a total combined flow of 2,400 m3/day.

 Client Requirements:

PETROKEMYA wanted to treat wastewater for the ABS process:

Flow rate: 100 m3/hr

TDS: 2,500 ppm

pH: 1 – 2

COD: 2,000 ppm

TSS: 1,000 ppm

So it can be reused in the plant with requirements to be:

Flow rate: 100 m3/hr

TDS: < 110 ppm

pH: 8.5

COD: < 30 ppm
